A World of Craftsmanship, Collected Over 25 Years
Sheherazade Home began in 2000 on New York City’s Lower East Side, inspired by founder Rachid Ouassil’s love of craftsmanship, travel, and objects with a story. Born and raised in Marrakech, Morocco, Rachid grew up surrounded by a culture where interiors are layered with color, texture, artistry, and pieces made by hand.
What began as a New York destination for Moroccan furnishings has evolved into a carefully curated collection that reaches far beyond Morocco. For more than 25 years, Rachid has traveled throughout Morocco, India, Turkey and beyond, seeking out distinctive furniture, handwoven rugs, lighting, textiles, ceramics, decorative objects, and vintage and antique finds.
At the heart of Sheherazade are the relationships built along the way. We work closely with artisans, family workshops, and craftspeople—sometimes discovering an exceptional piece as it is, other times collaborating to create custom designs that bring traditional techniques into contemporary interiors.
Our collections are intentionally eclectic. A hand-carved Moroccan table may sit alongside an Indian bone inlay cabinet, a vintage rug, an old textile, or a colorful Turkish ceramic. What connects them is not a single country or style, but craftsmanship, character, and the human hand behind each piece.
Over the years, Sheherazade Home has become a resource for homeowners, interior designers, architects, stylists, set designers, hospitality projects, and others looking for pieces that feel individual rather than mass-produced. Yet our philosophy remains much the same as when our doors first opened: to seek out beautiful things made with skill, history, and soul—and give them a new home.
Meet Rachid Ouassil
“I have always believed that the most beautiful interiors are collected over time. I look for pieces that have character—something handmade, something unexpected, or something that carries the story of where it came from.”
Rachid Ouassil
